Obituary for Alfred R D'Agostino

Alfred R  D'Agostino
Alfred R. D’Agostino, age 69 of South Amboy passed away Wednesday, December 30th 2015 at St Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick with his family by his side. Born in Bronx, NY he had resided in Parlin before moving to South Amboy 43 years ago. Before his retirement he was employed as a machinist by ADI in South River for 10 years and formerly for Honeywell in Elizabeth for 35 years. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War in the submarines and USS Triton and was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Alfred enjoyed studying his ancestry, collecting coins, fishing, camping cooking, coaching little league and attending his grandchildren’s games.

He is predeceased by his parents Alfred and Beatrice and his brother Bruce. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Eileen O’Brien D’Agostino, his children and their spouses DeAnne and Craig Smith of NC, Alfred J. and Melissa of Cedar Grove, his grandchildren Patrick, Ryan, Alyson, Matthew, Aiden and Joseph, his siblings and their spouses Geoffrey and Barbara of Parlin and Peggy and John Kolowicz of Jackson, his sister in laws Maureen Morrissey of South Amboy and Robin D’Agostino Batterson of FL, his brother in law Jack O’Brien and his wife Chris of Parlin and many nieces and nephews who he loved.

Funeral services will be held 8:45am Tuesday at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am Mass at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Alfred’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
